McGuire's Irish Pub
Having lived here on the Emerald Coast for three plus years and never making it to McGuire's Irish Pub? How dare us! Well I can tell you it was worth the wait and all the talk about their food was true.
As we walked up we were greated by a gentleman in a tradional Irish Kilt and playing the bagpipes. Good start! We then were seating along the upper tier by the bar and just loved the decor, and of course the thousands - and I mean THOUSANDS - of signed dollar bills plastered throughtout the place. Throw in some Notre Dame memorabilia and you are all set for a truly Irisg Pub experience.
Of course I needed to order the Senate Bean Soup, not only beacuse it sounded good, but it was a bowl for 18 CENTS!!!! And it was wonderful! Next I ordered the Chicken Supreme Sandwich - Chicken Breast with Smoked Ham and Melted Swiss Cheese on French Bread served with Irish Potato Fries. Just the description alone got my tastebuds going. My wife order a local favorite - The Swiss Cheese Steak Burger - three-quarters of a pound of lean Angus Beefloaded with Swiss Cheese and the works with Irish Potato Fries to top things off.
After enjoying one of the many fine beers McGuire's has available, our waitress brought our food, or shall I say our FEAST! I could not belive the size of the sandwiches and the portions of the sides! We could have easily ordered one entree and split it. The bottom line is the food was AMAZING - exactly what you would expect at a tradional Irish Pub. Needless to say we had plenty to bring home and have for lunch the following day.
So our recommendation is to run not walk to McGuire's Irish Pub here in Destin. All the accolades, awards and local buzz about this place is true and then some. For a touch of the Irish here along the Emerald Coast there is no place better than McGuires.
